Privacy Policy
Last updated 7 September 2026
Tales of Museums (“the app”) is an independent museum audio-companion
application. This policy explains what the app collects and why. It is written to
be short and specific.
What the app collects
-
Label photos. When you scan a museum label, the image is sent
to our processing service and to third-party AI providers to read, translate,
and narrate it. The image is held only for the duration of that request and is
not written to persistent storage on our servers.
-
Account details (optional). If you create an account, we store
your email address and authentication data through our authentication provider
(Supabase). You can use core features without an account.
-
On-device data. Your recent scans, their audio and text, and
your settings are stored on your device. They are not uploaded to us.
-
Usage analytics. We record anonymous events (for example,
“a scan started”) to understand how the app is used and to fix
problems. These are not linked to your identity.
-
Purchases. If you buy credits, the transaction is handled by
Apple and by our purchase provider (RevenueCat). We do not receive or store your
payment card details.
Service providers
We share the minimum data necessary with providers that operate parts of the
service: cloud hosting and authentication (Supabase), AI vision and
text-to-speech providers used to process label images, purchase management
(RevenueCat), and an email provider used only to send account emails
(confirmation, password reset, email change). These providers process data on our
behalf under their own terms.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your email for marketing or newsletters.
- We do not store the photos you scan after the request completes.
- We do not build advertising profiles.
Retention
Account data is kept while your account exists. Analytics events are retained in
aggregate. On-device data is removed when you delete the app or clear its data.
Your choices
You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us. You
can use the app without an account, and you can clear on-device history from
within the app.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect
their personal information.
Changes
We will update this page if the app’s data practices change, and revise the
date above.
